Belize Public And Bank Holidays 2022

November 7, 2021

This is the official calendar of all Public and Bank Holidays in Belize for the year 2022 as gazetted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. For 2022 we have the following line-up. Belize has fourteen holidays. In practice there are more. Easter in Belize for example is a four-day long holiday from Good Friday to Holy Monday. All the usual holidays are listed, and the latest addition of the George Price (Father of the Nation) Day in September and Emancipation Day (formerly Freedom Day) in August are there. Of note is that in October, Pan American Day (Columbus Day) which was removed in 2021 has been restored and rebranded as Indigenous People’s Resistance Day in 2022. Interestingly, Commonwealth Day (also known as Sovereign’s Day or Queen’s Birthday) has disappeared.

IT IS NOTIFIED for general information that public and bank holidays specified in the First and Second Schedules to Holidays Act, Chapter 289 of the Laws of Belize, Revised Edition 2011, will be observed on the following days during the year 2022 in accordance with section 3 of the said Act:

What Richard Branson Found At Belize’s Blue Hole

“There we were, venturing to the bottom of one of the world’s largest sinkholes, an unexplored legend of the deep filled with Mayan mysteries and myths of monsters and wonder,” Sir Richard Branson muses poetically, of his latest excursion over the weekend, which saw him hop into a submarine and hitch a ride down Belize’s […]

Ride The ADO Bus To The Yucatan

It took the ADO bus a full half hour after entering the city limits to finally reach the terminal which is located somewhere near the middle of Merida, Yucatan.  One of Mexico’s most bustling metropolises, Merida is a big city covering some 331 sq. miles and from all indications, is still growing at an incredible […]

Health Issues In Belize

Bad water and poor sanitation are major causes of illness in much of the Third World. In Belize, happily these are less of a problem than in Belize’s larger neighbors, Mexico and Guatemala. All residents of Belize City and nearly all towns have access to safe and adequate water supplies — “pipe water” as it’s […]
